Foreign Minister Shimon Peres arrived in Cairo this morning, where he may or may not meet with Yasser Arafat. Staffers in Peres\' office say they hope Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak invites Peres to a three-way meeting with him and Arafat. Prime Minister Sharon apologized on Friday for calling Arafat \"Bin-Laden,\" and his son Omri met with Arafat last week; he is apparently very interested in a Peres-Arafat meeting.

Infrastructures Minister Avigdor Lieberman called on Peres not to visit Cairo, in light of threats by a senior Egyptian official to take sides with Syria against Israel. Egyptian official Osama el-Baz said that if Israel attacks Syria, \"Syria would not stand alone.\" Lieberman and his party colleague Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze\'evi met with Sharon this morning, registering their protest against the \"continuing Oslo policies.\"
