Today, Sunday May 23rd, thousands of Jews and supporters of Israel from America and around the globe will be marching alongside Parade Grand Marshal Donald Trump and Honorary Parade Grand Marshal Michael Bloomberg in the Salute to Israel Parade. This year's theme, "I Care. And I'm Going", focuses on bringing North American tourists to Israel to support the country. The tourism industry is one of the country's most important and its recent success has helped kick start the Israeli economy.
"I am very pleased that the parade's theme this year focuses on tourism," said Israeli Tourism Minister Benny Elon, who will also be leading the parade. "In these difficult times, our supporters from America and around the globe have shown their commitment to Israel by visiting en masse, and we want those who have not yet done so to know that Israel is open for business."
The Salute to Israel Parade begins Sunday at noon New York time, on Fifth Avenue & 57th Street. A concert will be held following the parade at 3:00PM in the East Meadow of Central Park, off 97th Street.
