On Sunday, May 16, Israeli sailors Vered Bouskila and Nika Kornitzky were awarded the bronze medal in the women's category of the 470 Class World Sailing Championships, held in Zadar, Croatia over the past several days. A mere two points separated Bouskila and Kornitzky from the gold medal winners, a team from Sweden.

The Israeli duo had been rated third in the competition by Sunday night, with the last regatta of the competition to be held the next day. However, the meets originally scheduled for Monday were cancelled due to inclement weather, thus leaving all the competitors in their position at the end of Sunday's races.

Israel's male sailing team, Udi Gal and Gidi Klieger, finished fifth in the men's competition. They were three points from a bronze in their category.

43 nations overall competed in the 470 Class World Sailing Championships regattas this year.

In the 2003 Olympics in Barcelona, the team of Bouskila and Kornitzky sailed off with a silver medal in the 470 Class Women's competition.
