Israeli Judo champion Arik Ze'evi successfully defended his under-100kg title with a victory in the finals at the European Judo championships in Bucharest today (Sunday).

Ze'evi defeated the Hungarian, Antel Hungarian, by ‘Ipon’ - for his third championship win in the under-100kg weight class (he won in 2001 and 2003 as well).

Ze'evi defeated France’s Zisan Lemierre by points in the semi-finals – a repeat of his victory over the same fighter to win the 2001 European Championships in Paris.

Another Israeli, Yoel Rozbozov won the silver medal in the under-73 kg category the previous day. Rozbozov won four matches with an ‘Ipon’ before losing to Spain's Kioshi Uematsu.
