In the first of this morning\'s two attacks, which occurred within two hours of each other, terrorists dressed as Israeli soldiers shot and wounded three members of the Shmuelyan family. Standing on the road leading from the Shomron community of Har Bracha, the costumed Arabs signaled the approaching car to stop, then opened fire from near point-blank range. Miraculously, no one was killed, but 25-year-old Erez Shmuelyan is listed in moderate condition, and his wife Ilanit and one-year-old daughter were hurt lightly-to-moderately. Erez was flown by helicopter to Tel HaShomer hospital in Tel Aviv, while the others were driven there by ambulance. Both parents were hit by shrapnel in the head, and the mother\'s hand was hit while it was protecting her baby\'s head.

This was the second such attack there in ten days; Avi Romano was seriously wounded in the last attempted murder, but he has since been released from hospital, albeit with limited use of one arm. The site of attack is only 100 meters from Area A, area under total Palestinian control to which the terrorists escaped.

In today\'s second hate-crime, a resident of Beitar Illit was shot in the head while waiting outside the western gate to Kiryat Arba; his condition is listed as very grave. An Israeli-Arab standing nearby was lightly wounded, and the attacking car also fired at an army jeep further up the road before escaping into PA territory. Kiryat Arba Mayor Tzvi Katzover told Arutz-7 today, \"We have long asked the army to put up barriers and checkpoints along this road, but the army said that it has a different approach. The terrorists saw that they could travel and attack freely, so they did it. The IDF made a mistake, and we ask that it now correct this error. From the government we demand the end of this restraint, which continuously costs the lives of settlers.\"

The attack follows a night of shooting attacks by Arafat\'s armed forces upon Jewish neighborhoods in Hevron and the eastern Kiryat Arba neighborhood of Harsina. Hevron residents note with sorrow that Hevron\'s military commander did not enforce a curfew on Hevron Arabs following the shooting, as has been customary in the past.

In other Palestinian violence last night, a car along the side road leading from Beit El to Psagot was shot at, as were IDF positions on Mt. Grizim and the town of Beit Haggai... Another roadside bomb was discovered south of the Einav intersection in the Shomron, and army sappers safely neutralized it... In Gaza, Arabs attacked the IDF outposts near N\'vei Dekalim and Rafiach. No one was hurt... Arabs fired a mortar shell at Kfar Darom last night.
