The United States is backing Israeli demands for the UN to turn over a videotape that shows the possible Hizbullah kidnappers of three Israeli soldiers. Hizbullah terrorists kidnapped the three last October, and have not released a single sign of life from them since then. In addition, Hizbullah is holding a fourth Israeli since a few days after the kidnapping. U.S. Deputy Ambassador Cameron Hume\'s announcement to the Security Council yesterday marked the first time the United States had taken a public position on the dispute between Israel and the UN.
The world body has so far agreed to give Israel only an edited version of the tape, one that obscures the faces of Hizbullah terrorists. On the other hand, U.S. officials condemned Israel yesterday for demolishing illegal Arab structures; no one had as yet lived in the buildings.
