America’s top radio talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, has declared his full support of Israel’s targeted “surgical strike” eliminations of terrorist leaders. Rush Limbaugh, on his daily talk show as well as his internet web site showered Israel with praise for its elimination of Hamas leaders Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Abdul-Aziz Rantissi. Limbaugh even went so far as to call on the US to emulate the Jewish State in its war on terror.
“In the past month,” writes Limbaugh on his web site, “Israel has gotten Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the guy who wrote the manual on Palestinians outfitting their kids with bombs to make them homicide suicide bombers and Rantisi, the Palestinian Hamas leader who swore that his existence was to destroy all Jews and the Jewish state of Israel. I think, quite frankly, that the Israelis have been pussy-footing around a little bit too long here.”
Limbaugh goes on to applaud Israel’s apparent decision to adopt what he calls the ‘Limbaugh Doctrine. “It's sort of an unspoken rule that it's okay to kill the army of Hamas but not their leaders,” he writes, “because that means Hamas will go after Sharon and Bush. Well, I'm sorry, folks, but I think the Limbaugh Doctrine is in full force. The Limbaugh Doctrine states that you don't get peace until you first have victory. And I, frankly, think that this is long overdue. I know that to some of you that's going to sound cold-hearted and cruel, but I don't hear anybody with a stated objective of wiping out the Palestinians and eliminating them. I don't hear anybody suggesting that on the Israeli side.”
The popular radio host questions why the United States doesn’t pursue a similar policy. “Are we going to try to capture bin Laden or kill him?” writes Limbaugh. “Did we try to capture Saddam or kill him? What's the difference here? These guys have their own versions of bin Laden. If I were Arafat, I'd be making tracks to get to Tunisia or whatever hideout he goes to when he gets thrown out of there.”
On a recent live broadcast Limbaugh spoke about Israel’s prospects of peace with their Arab neighbors. “It's a one-sided story. These are terrorists, for crying out loud. These are terrorists who are blowing up innocent Israeli citizens on buses! They're killing their own kids because they're cowards. They strap bombs on their own children and send them on buses,” Limbaugh railed. “The very idea that there could be a diplomatic solution with such people is buffoonery. It's literally ridiculous.”
