The closure on Palestinian Authority residents of Judea, Samaria and Gaza remains in effect, as security remains high around the country. There have been over sixty terror alerts of planned attacks during recent days. Security forces remain deployed on high alert, working around-the-clock to prevent a major terror attack.



In other counterterrorism efforts, IDF troops operating in Judea and Samaria during the night arrested 27 PA residents suspected of terrorist activities. Included among the suspects in custody are Hamas, Fatah and Islamic Jihad terrorists.



In ongoing attacks on Israeli military and civilian targets by Arab terrorists: soldiers were targeted with firebombs in PA-controlled Shechem. The attacker was lightly wounded by IDF return fire; a 40-kilogram bomb was detected and neutralized without incident near Kibbutz Erez, north of Gaza; a mortar shell landed near the southern Gush Katif community of Kfar Darom; an IDF position between Kiryat Arba and Anoun was set ablaze. Kiryat Arba security personnel responding to the incident were attacked with rocks; a firebomb was thrown at soldiers near the community of Beit El from the Arab village of Jelazoun. No injuries to Israelis were reported in any of the foregoing attacks.



In a possibly related item, Jerusalem police report that since March, ten members of the Breslov Hassidic sect were arrested on suspicion of attacking Arabs in the capital, including a taxi driver and a bus driver. Of the ten arrested, five were subsequently released. The ten were taken into custody in connection with a number of different attacks that occurred during the Purim holiday, during which time police believe the suspects hurled rocks at the victims.
