Rabbi Shlomo Maidanchik, the chairman of the Organization of Chabad-Lubavitch Chassidim in the Land of Israel, passed away last night at Tel HaShomer Hospital. He was 80 years old. His funeral took place last night in Kfar Chabad, near Tel Aviv.
In other Chabad news, the movement will hold its semi-annual Chol HaMoed [Passover and Sukkot intermediate days] Torah conventions tonight and tomorrow night. Rabbinical Court judge Rabbi Zalman Nechemiah Goldberg will be among the speakers at the Jerusalem edition of the event, which will take place in the Heichal Levi Yitzchak Synagogue just off Bar Ilan Blvd.
