At about 1:00am, a roadside bomb targeted a military jeep traveling south of the Adorayim Checkpoint in the Southern Hevron Hills area. One occupant of the jeep sustained very serious head injuries. A second was lightly wounded.
Despite efforts by a Soroka Medical Center medical team, the condition of the victim continued to deteriorate during the night. The victim died of his wounds early Monday morning. His identity may not be released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
In Gaza, the warfare continued during the night and early morning hours with shooting attacks in the southern areas. After sunrise, two mortar rockets were launched at the southern Gaza community of Morag. There were no injuries.
No too far away, minutes apart, a powerful explosion was heard near the Kissufim Checkpoint. It was first believed to be another wave of mortar rockets but soldiers quickly realized the sound of the blast hinted at a large bomb. A car bomb had been detonated and once again, there were no injuries.
The night was accompanied by shooting and bomb attacks in other areas of Yesha as well. In the Shomron, 18-year-old Avital Lehman of the community of Eli was moderately wounded. She was traveling on an armor-plated Egged Number 178 bus when terrorists fired from the Arab village of Sinjel, just a few kilometers south of Shilo. She was hit in her shoulder/upper back area. She is recuperating in Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital where she remains in moderate condition.
In the northern Shomron, a passenger bus traveling near Shavei Shomron was attacked by terrorist gunfire Sunday night. There were no injuries. Further south, just north of Tapuach Junction in the Shomron, a bomb was detonated against a border police jeep in the Arab village of Chawara. Once again, no injuries. About 2 kilometers south of Tapuach, a motorist was attacked by terrorist gunfire on Sunday night. He escaped injuries.
Inside Green Line Israel, a motorist traveling on Route 443 on Sunday night, the Jerusalem Modi’in road, was bombarded with stones near Beit Choron. As a result of the attack, the motorist lost control of the vehicle and flipped over. Miraculously, the motorist was only lightly injured and transported to a local hospital.
