The terrorist war against Israel continues with increased intensity – as does Israel's counterterrorism operations.

Four soldiers were injured, one moderately and the remainder light, in a bomb attack on an IDF tank operating near Netzarim in Gaza this morning. Hamas claimed responsibility for the bombing, which came on the heels of a Kassam rocket attack on Netzarim last night; there were no injuries in that incident. The tank force struck today was involved in the ongoing counterterrorism operations in PA-controlled areas of Gaza.

In the Hevron region, soldiers of the Lavi unit apprehended two Fatah terrorists, one of whom was believed to be on his way to carry out a suicide bombing. A third terrorist from PLO leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah was picked up in Zeta, southwest of Shechem. In addition, IDF forces destroyed the home of terrorist Jamal Kalaf Mustafa Hamid, also a member of the Fatah Tanzim, who carried out a suicide bombing attack in Efrat on 30 February 2002.

In the wake of the intensified IDF military pressure on terrorist gangs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, Hamas figurehead and leader, Ahmed Yassin, announced a renewed offer to temporarily halt attacks on Jews. Speaking in an interview with Arabic media, Yassin said that an IDF retreat from Gaza, including all communities and military bases, would result in a temporary halt of attacks, permitting a "dialogue" regarding remaining "outstanding issues".
