A night of attempted terror attacks passed over Judea, Samaria and Gaza last night. In one of the attempts, Avigdor Shatz, security coordinator of the Binyamin Region, was shot at as he drove north of Ofrah. He was unhurt, though three bullets hit the windshield. Schatz was seriously hurt two years ago in a similar attack not far from the site of last night's shooting; ten Israelis were murdered in that sniper attack in Wadi Haramiya, between Ofrah and Shilo, and the murderer has not yet been caught.
Arutz-7's Kobi Finkler reports that a mortar shell landed atop a house in N'vei Dekalim last night, causing damage to it and to other structures in the yard. One person in the house was lightly hurt. In addition, Arab gunmen fired several times at soldiers in the area. Terrorists fired at a car in western Binyamin and a house in Alei Zahav, and lobbed a firebomb towards soldiers in Chomesh. Security forces arrested five long-wanted terrorists, including three Tanzim members in the Hevron area.
Security officials have said that talk of Israeli concessions to terrorists encourage more terrorism. "Talk in Israel of the possibility of a unilateral retreat encourages the terrorist organizations to commit more attacks," according to Gaza Formation Commander Brig.-Gen. Gadi Shamni.
