A Friday night terrorist shooting attack west of Judea has claimed the lives of an Israeli couple, leaving their 2-year-old daughter an orphan.

The attack occurred as Eitan Kokoyo and Rima Novikov were on their way to friends in Ashdod when Palestinian terrorists - who apparently made their way from the Arab village of Ramdin, south of Hevron - ambushed them with a heavy barrage of gunfire. With the victims' car totally stopped, the terrorists approached and shot the two in their heads from point-blank range in order to make sure of their death. An undetermined while later, a passing motorist saw the bullet-riddled car and alerted security forces.

Eitan immigrated from the former Soviet Union 17 years ago, while Rima made aliyah from the same area ten years later. They were buried this afternoon in a Be'er Sheva cemetery. Eitan's sister Tasia Levine said that she and her husband would not let the newly-orphaned Michelle suffer, and that they would adopt and raise her. Eitan and Rima are the 22nd couple to have been murdered in the three-and-a-half year Oslo War, which has left a total of 35 children without either parent. All of the orphans have been adopted by relatives.
