The plan to uproot the Jewish communities in Gaza, although far from being finalized, is already making life difficult for residents there. The farmers say that they are having trouble renewing contracts for the export of their produce for next year, as the exporters - among them, Agrexco - are concerned that the Jewish farms will no longer exist then. Planning for next year, they say, is thus made difficult, to say the least.

Gaza Coast Regional Council head Avner Shimoni says he will speak with Agriculture Minister Yisrael Katz today or tomorrow and ask him to take an active role in allaying the exporters' fears. The Gush Katif greenhouses provide one of the largest shares of Israel's agricultural industry.
