Yesterday\'s Palestinian violence also included the serious wounding of Avi (ben Shula Aziza) Romano, father of seven. He was shot only 100 meters before reaching his Shomron community of Brachah yesterday evening. His condition worsened last night but is now listed as moderate. Last night and this morning, Arabs opened fire on Psagot, caused property damage with a mortar shell to the Gush Katif town of Gadid, and shot at several Israeli targets. Soldiers returned fire in some of the incidents.

Other attacks today: A firebomb was thrown at an IDF jeep near Mevo Dotan in Shomron, and another one at an Israeli car south of Shechem; IDF soldiers shot back in the latter incident… Three fragmentation grenades, then shots, were directed at an IDF outpost near Rafiach; no one was hurt, and IDF soldiers returned fire… Shots were fired at an Israeli car near Keidar, south of Ma\'aleh Adumim; three bullets hit the car, no one was hurt. Residents were originally prevented by the police this afternoon from protesting along the highway to Maaleh Adumim, but made their way to the road through the hills and are now [late afternoon] blocking the entrance to Maaleh Adumim…

The IDF reported this morning that several particularly grave terrorist attacks were thwarted over the past few days. One of the terrorists killed Sunday night in Jenin, Muhmad Bashrat, was about to dispatch two suicide attackers to Kfar Saba; another attack was planned for Ashkelon; and the bomb that was detonated alongside a busload of military cadets was in fact a very large 25-kilogram load. The fact that no one was hurt in that case is viewed as a miracle.
