Deputy Education Minister Tzvi Hendel (National Union) feels that Prime Minister Sharon is punishing him. Sharon's office staffers postponed yet again a planned meeting between Hendel and Sharon this morning, but this time - as opposed to the previous times - they did not set another date. Hendel's aides say that their boss, one of the fiercest opponents of Sharon's Gaza-retreat plan, is being punished for having coined the phrase, "The extent of the uprooting will be determined by the extent of the [police] investigation;" the Hebrew words for investigation and uprooting rhyme, and it is based on the phrase coined by the late Yitzchak Rabin in preparation for negotiations with Syria over the Golan Heights: "The extent of the withdrawal will be determined by the extent of the peace [offered by Syria]."
