Israeli companies and business executives are being recognized as leaders in their fields by international professional organizations, again and again.
The Tel Aviv-based company Alvarion has been recognized by Pyramid Research as the leader in the global Broadband Wireless Access market, measuring its market share at 45%.
The study, released in 2003, was publicized last month by Alvarion along with disclosure that the company provides service to millions of users in 130 countries with over 1.5 million CPEs deployed to date. With products covering all major bands from 900 MHz to 28 GHz, Alvarion solutions are used by more than 3,000 global carriers, national ILECs, and other service providers. Alvarion has had a significant leadership role in all major technology innovations in the industry to date, the company notes.
Meanwhile, Internet Telephony magazine has named the I-Gate 4000 PRO media gateway of Veraz Networks Ltd., as the Product of the Year for 2003. CEO of the Israeli telephony solutions provider, Tal Simchony commented, "We are very pleased to receive such a high recommendation from the editors of Internet Telephony magazine, as they hear about hundreds of new products each day in our industry."
"We're proud to reward their hard work and innovation with a Product of the Year Award for 2003," said Rich Tehrani, editor-in-chief of Internet Telephony.
And finally - for now - two Israeli Chief Technology Officers have been included in a list of CTOs recognized by InfoWorld, which covers and evaluates IT products for technology experts, as creative and influential business leaders. The two Israeli CTOs, KaVaDo's Yuval Ben-Itzhak and Sanctum's Steve Orrin, were among only 25 honorees for 2004.
Ben-Itzhak, as co-founder of Tel Aviv-based KaVaDo, was the originator of his firm's security software concept, which "provides customers with an immediate payback," according to InfoWorld.
Orrin, InfoWorld notes, "spends much of his time evangelizing the importance of embedding security in applications..." rather than depending solely on external security measures. He is credited with leading the development of tools to both test application security and to track down security breaches.
