Following the terrorist/hostage exchange with Hizbullah last Thursday, Israel has been sounding some tough talk against Hizbullah, Hamas and Syria. Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz threatens a "very sharp reaction" if Hizbullah attempts to abduct Israeli soldiers, and says that Hamas leaders such as Sheikh Yassin are targets for Israeli attack. Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said today that his office has begun a new campaign: to get the Syrian army out of Lebanon.
Mofaz and Shalom spoke at this morning's weekly Cabinet meeting. The Defense Minister said that in light of Hamas leader Yassin's threats to copy Hizbullah and kidnap IDF soldiers, Yassin and his colleagues are now in Israeli sights - and not for the first time.
Foreign Minister Shalom said that Syria conquered Lebanon back in 1976, and has remained there ever since - in defiance of UN Resolution 425 calling upon it to leave.
Special IDF and police forces killed a terrorist in Jericho today who was about to perpetrate a suicide attack against Israelis, and seriously wounded another. The operation involved the surrounding of their house for several hours. Arutz-7's Kobi Finkler also reports that an IDF force demolished three terrorist homes in Silwad, near Ofrah, over night. The homes belonged to the murderers of three IDF soldiers in an attack four months ago.
Once again, Kibbutz Nachal Oz in the western Negev was the target of a Kassam rocket attack last night. Slight damage was caused, though no one was hurt. Slightly to the west, in the thick of the Gaza Strip, Arab gunmen fired at IDF positions near Kfar Darom and in Gush Katif; no one was hurt, and IDF soldiers returned fire. Terrorists also fired an anti-tank missile at Ganei Tal.
