The Tel Aviv suburb of Yahud was targeted on Monday morning by terrorists. Two car bombs were detonated in the local municipality, one in proximity of a daycare facility. The first blast was heard at 8:20am, at the intersection of Orlozoroff and Marcus Streets, near Weizman. There were no injuries. The bomb was placed inside or under a Fiat Uno parked at that location.
Several minutes later, a bomb exploded inside or under a car parked in a residential driveway at the intersection of Marcus and Weizman Streets. Emergency medical service personnel treated six persons for hysteria. Two were transported to a hospital for additional treatment.
The areas of the bomb explosions remain closed at this time while police continue gathering evidence and securing the areas. No organization has claimed responsibility for the blasts. Police indicate that the explosions were terrorist attacks but are not ruling out criminal activity at this early stage of the investigation.
Yahud Mayor Uzi Meir stated it would appear the explosions were terrorist attacks and not related to underworld crime. Meir added that the continuing spread of terror is cause for serious concern, adding it was most fortunate that there were no children at the daycare center at the time of the first blast.
The attacks came only hours after Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists stated that the so-called cease-fire was over, blaming Israel’s liquidation of three terrorists near Jenin on Sunday as the justification for continued terrorist attacks.
