Plans are underway for the religious-nationalist response to last month's Herzliya Conference. It will be held in two months' time, and will be called the Annual General National Conference - or the Jerusalem Conference for short. The owners of the weekly B'Sheva, the driving force behind the event, are not bashful about their goals: to counter the left-wing drift of the prestigious Herzliya Conference and the Caesarea Conference that preceded it. It is planned to be an "ideological and spiritual response to those conferences at which the prevalent idea is retreat."

The first session is scheduled to take place at the Hyatt Regency hotel in the capital, with the participation of important rabbis, U.S. Senators and Representatives, Israeli government ministers, Knesset Members, and others who will present an alternative to recoiling and withdrawal. The organizers plan to invite Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as well.
