Well-known former senior Shabak (General Security Service) agent Yossi Ginosar passed away last night following a long illness, at the age of 58. He was one of those pardoned in the famous Bus #300 affair of April 1984, in which GSS agents killed two terrorists who hijacked an Israeli bus to Gaza; one young Israeli woman passenger was killed. He served for several years as an emissary between Israeli officials and Yasser Arafat, beginning as early as 1985, even though such contacts were banned by law at the time. Fellow GSS agents said that Ginosar made great and brave contributions to Israel's security. He will be buried tomorrow in the Kiryat Sha'ul cemetery outside Tel Aviv.
