IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Yaalon said again today that a unilateral evacuation of Jewish communities such as Netzarim would only "fan the flames of terrorism." Speaking at a session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Yaalon said that quitting Netzarim might save the need for several dozen soldiers there, but would require hundreds of soldiers to replace them. "Evacuating Netzarim under fire would create a tail-wind encouraging more Palestinian terrorism," the Chief of Staff said. He emphasized that he was not taking sides regarding the Prime Minister's diplomatic plans.
