In what has become a regular phenomenon, Israeli youth athletes again earned a series of medals this month at the Miami World Championships for Disabled Children & Youth. This time, it was 14 medals - eight gold, five silver, three bronze - awarded to two Israeli competitors in the swimming and track & field events.
The Israeli victors are 14-year-old Matti Mazor, from Hod Hasharon, and ten-year-old Tal Levy, of Yehud. Both of the athletes are affiliated with the Israel Sport Center for the Disabled in Ramat Gan (ILAN).
In addition to the medals he earned, Levy was recognized by the Miami Championships organizers as the Outstanding Athlete of the competition.
Hundreds of athletes from about 20 countries regularly take part in the Miami Championships.
