Minister Uzi Landau said that recent statements by Likud leaders, such as Prime Minister Sharon and Ehud Olmert, in favor of unilateral moves in the event that the PA does not meet its obligations are very harmful. Speaking with IsraelNationalNews TV today, Landau also said that he does not understand the logic behind "threatening" the PA with an Israeli withdrawal:

"Let me add, I fail to see what is the political wisdom in suggesting now to the Palestinians that if they will not meet their commitments - for example, dismantling terror organizations - then we will unilaterally withdraw, [enabling them] not only to consolidate themselves in the territories and [form] a Palestinian state, but they will of course *continue* not to crack down on terrorist activities."
