Chesed (kindness) is one of the three pillars on which the world stands, according to the Talmud, and at least one internet site has begun a campaign to buttress and consolidate the column. "World of Chesed" is a voluntary organization whose website offers a "worldwide information data base on a broad variety of institutions and individuals who deal with helping Jews, in any way and means."
Close to 300 organizations and gmachim (societies that provide free loans of money and necessary items) are already listed, mainly from Israel and North America.
