Jerusalem, the City of Gold, continues to expand. While lavish words were being spoken in Geneva yesterday to launch a piece of paper, down-to-earth actions were being taken in Jerusalem to launch a new neighborhood in the Land of Israel.
Tractors were at work yesterday in the new location, which is in an area named Jabel Mukabar, just to the east of Talpiot Mizrach and a UN complex. The new neighborhood, to be named Nof Zahav (Golden Horizon), will come complete with a hotel, synagogue, and school.
The network ABC, which broke the story, stated that the neighborhood is both in violation of the Road Map and is a slap in the face at American mediator William Burns, who is currently in Israel in an effort to revive the Road Map. The builders say, however, that the new project is a commercial enterprise that received the necessary permits and authorizations long ago. ABC admitted that the Jerusalem municipality has authorized the project.
