Prof Yehoshua Porat, who once ran for Knesset on the Meretz party list but has since changed some of his views, had harsh criticism this morning for Israeli journalists who interviewed Arafat lately. \"In England during World War II, no one would have dreamt of interviewing Goebbels and giving him a platform to spread his venomous hatred. This is how a healthy nation responds to its enemy. The journalists\' meeting with Arafat was a shameful display of cooperation with the enemy.\" Porat further said that the main point Prime Minister Sharon in his meetings with the Americans is that there is no chance that Arafat will ever give up on his dream of the \"Right of Return\" of hundreds of thousands of Arab refugees from 1948 to Jaffa and other places in pre-1967 Israel. When reminded that Oslo-architect Yossi Beilin had said that an agreement was very close to being achieved in Taba last year, Porat said that Beilin had simply lied.

Another prominent personality who has turned rightwards of late is television host and journalist Dan Margalit, who recently wrote: \"The Jewish communities on the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip are not the reason why peace is yet to be attained. [This is] because, at Camp David and Taba, for the first time since the Six Day War... Israel actually expressed a willingness to consider giving up all the West Bank - and the Palestinian response was expressed in blood and fire.\"

Yet another left-wing journalist, Amnon Dankner, told Arutz-7 yesterday that had erred when he used his position as a journalist to attempt to garner support for the Oslo agreement, which he said was based at least partially on mistaken wishful thinking.
