The B\'Tselem civil rights organization, traditionally not particularly friendly to Israel, today made a break and condemned Palestinian calls of support for attacks against Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. In a statement issued this past Thursday, B\'Tselem writes that remarks of the kind made by \"several figures in the Palestinian National Authority\" to the effect that murderous attacks on settlers are legitimate, \"undermine fundamental principles of both international human rights law and international humanitarian law.\" B\'Tselem posits that the \"fact\" that \"there are many incidents of settlers engaging in illegal violent acts against Palestinians\" does not justify such statements. The statement concludes, \"B\'Tselem urges the Palestinian National Authority to renounce these statements and to formally declare its opposition to attacks on settlers.\"
