Another day of warfare in the Gaza Strip today: Arabs tossed two hand grenades and fired at an IDF bulldozer working adjacent to the Rafiach border crossing. Soldiers returned fire; no injuries are reported. Just prior to that attack, an IDF bomb expert was injured lightly while dismantling explosives planted on the Netzarim road last night by PLO terrorists. This morning, outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Barak declared that the army \"would not let last night\'s Arab shelling of [the Gaza communities of] Alei Sinai and Dugit go unanswered.\" To this end, Barak ordered the IDF to \"slice Gaza in half,\" with the goal of preventing traffic from Gaza City in the north to Khan Unis and Rafiach in the south. Voice of Israel Radio correspondent Nissim Kenan notes that, in the past, Palestinians have succeeded in finding alternate routes to reach their destinations within Gaza, despite similar IDF security measures. Ma\'ariv reports that the IDF has now taken over a PA post adjacent to Alei Sinai after last night\'s Palestinian shelling of the community.
