The Daf Yomi Yerushalmi program entered its seventh cycle yesterday. Jews around the world study a page of the Jerusalem Talmud every day, until completing the entire work in approximately 4.5 years. Increased interest in the Jerusalem Talmud has been noted of late in several yeshivot in Israel; for instance, the Institute for Study of the Yerushalmi was recently established by the Harry Fischel-Ariel Institute in Jerusalem. Its scholars are preparing two new commentaries on the Jerusalem Talmud: one is a line-by-line explanation, while the other is a more in-depth study. A daily study program for the Babylonian Talmud has been in effect for over 70 years; untold tens of thousands of people around the world participate in this program, completing the Talmud in over 7 years.
