At least one home was damaged and one person was treated for hysteria during a barrage of seven mortar shells launched at Gush Katif communities since last night (Thursday). The targeted communities include Gadid, Kfar Darom and Netzer Hazani. Also in the vicinity of Gadid, IDF soldiers shot and wounded an Arab male who threw an unidentified projectile at them.
In other Gaza-area security incidents, IDF forces killed two terrorists involved in placing a bomb east of Khan Yunis. Another three terrorists were detected by IDF forces as they placed a bomb near Kibbutz Nahal Oz, near northern Gaza. Soldiers opened fire, killing one of the saboteurs and wounding a second; the third fled. And IDF soldiers possibly killed another two terrorists in a violent encounter in central Gaza over night.
On other fronts: IDF sappers continued working today to neutralize a string of bombs planted by Hizbullah terrorists along the Lebanon-Israel border earlier in the week.... In PA-controlled Jenin, IDF soldiers came under enemy gunfire.... Near the Shomron community of Einav, one Arab was killed and a second injured when they refused to heed soldiers’ orders to halt... And near the Israeli Arab village of Taibeh, in the Sharon region, IDF soldiers came under terrorist gunfire. There were no injuries in any of the incidents.
According to Palestinian Authority sources, as reported by the ITIM news agency, on Thursday morning, IDF forces arrested four plainclothes PA policemen in the Ramallah area. A PA militia colonel demanded Israel release the four immediately; there is, as yet, no official Israeli reaction to the story.
On the legal front, an IDF military court sentenced a 24-year-old female terrorist to life in prison. Aman Mona, a resident of Bir Naballah, lured teenager Ofir Rahum to Ramallah with the promise of meeting a foreign student for a romantic rendezvous. In actuality, as per arrangement with Mona, PA terrorists were waiting for Rahum to arrive, and they murdered him.
