Israel and South Korea are close to signing a tourism cooperation agreement between the two countries. Minister of Tourism, Rabbi Benny Elon met with his Korean counterpart and among other tings, discussed the renewal of flights from Tel Aviv to Seoul, which were discontinued eight years ago. Minister Elon said he would bring the proposal to El Al to explore the possibilities of renewing such flights.



Minister Elon held the meeting with the Korean Minister of Tourism in Seoul in mid-October. He concluded his meeting by extending an invitation his Korean counterpart to come on an official visit to Israel. The two men also discussed other opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, especially in the realm of cultural exchange.



The meeting was organized by Israel’s ambassador to Korea, Uzi Manor.



Minister Elon also took the opportunity to meet with the heads of several of the large Christian churches in Korea. Elon told Arutz-7 that he experienced an outpouring of empathy, faith and love of Israel from the Christian leaders. They promised him they would continue their efforts to bring Korean Christian groups to visit the Holy Land.



Elon also met with twenty Korean tourism agencies that specialize in tours to Israel. Elon said his Ministry intends to put great emphasis on the South Korean Christain tourism market, in which he sees great potential for an increased number of visitors to Israel.
