Following an 80-day summer break, the Knesset will begin its winter session tomorrow - the Third Assembly of the 16th Knesset. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will open, as is traditional, with a diplomatic speech and an overview of the Government's activities since the closing of the previous session. Opposition leader Shimon Peres will respond, followed by other MKs.

The Knesset plenum has been newly wired to a computer system that will enable more efficient voting, access to data banks, and internet services.

Among the committee sessions to convene tomorrow will be the Education Committee, which will meet with its Czech counterpart; the Aliyah and Absorption Committee; and the Law Committee, discussing ways to shorten the judicial process.

It is of interest to note that the Knesset's English homepage - "www.knesset.gov.il" - prominently features the "Peace Process," while in Hebrew, the reference is to the "Diplomatic Process."
