Over 100 people are marching southwards today from Shilo to Jerusalem, a 45-kilometer trek, in a unique effort on behalf of IDF morality. The march is led by Moshe Keinan, whose son Avihu was killed two weeks ago in an IDF attempt to capture a Palestinian terrorist in Gaza. An air raid would have successfully targeted the terrorist, but was ruled out by the top military echelons in order not to endanger Arab civilians. Moshe Keinan claimed at his son's funeral that the army's policy of increasing the risk to Jewish lives in order to reduce the risk to Arab civilians, or in order to look good in the media, is unethical.
The marchers will end up today at President Moshe Katzav's residence, where they will hold signs reading, "Our soldiers' lives come first." The protest is scheduled to last throughout the week.
