Five Israeli soldiers were wounded in two Arab attacks last night and this afternoon. Last night, three soldiers were shot at in the Shechem region of the Shomron, leaving them in light, moderate, and serious condition, respectively. Beilinson Hospital officials report that following surgery, their condition has improved.
This afternoon, a female Palestinian suicide terrorist blew herself up within the IDF District Coordinating Office compound in the Tul Karem area, east of Netanya. The accomplice who was seen driving her to the site managed to get away. The attempted murder occurred shortly before 2 PM, and a soldier with moderate-to-serious head wounds was transported to Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah. A second soldier and an Arab were also lightly injured, and were treated on the scene. It was not immediately clear if the incident was connected with the high terrorist alert imposed on the Hadera area this afternoon.
Seventeen victims of the Maxim Restaurant suicide bombing attack in Haifa five days ago remain hospitalized. Among them are 3-year-old Hadar [ben Tova] Bahat, who is in very critical condition. Doctors cannot state with certainty the extent of the damage to his brain. Hadar's father was among the 19 victims killed in the attack, and widow/mother Tova continues to request that everyone continue to offer prayers for her son's recovery. Three other patients are listed in serious condition, while the others are listed in "moderate" and "light" condition.
