IDF forces discovered and safely blew up a car bomb outside Shechem last night. The car, which was parked at the roadside and was packed with explosives, was designed to blow up alongside Israeli soldiers and civilians in the region today. An Israeli tank crew fired a shell at it and safely detonated it. The IDF noted that in the past three weeks, army forces have thwarted three terror attacks involving explosive vehicles.



Several Arab residents of the PA were arrested today in relation to various attempted attacks: a scheme to murder a Jewish contractor who often shops in eastern Jerusalem, a plan to attack an IDF base in Mevo Horon, and a possible attack on Morag in southern Gush Katif.



In a Gaza neighborhood, the home of an Al Aksa terrorist was destroyed today. He was involved in several attacks in the Netzarim area, including one in which a soldier was killed and a civilian security officer was wounded... A mortar shell was fired at N'vei Dekalim last night; no one was hurt... A bomb exploded this morning between two reinforced vehicles near Kfar Darom; no one was hurt... Shot were fired this afternoon at an IDF force near Tul Karem; no one was hurt.



Israeli government sources deny yesterday's rumors circulated by a Hamas official to the effect that a Mossad cell was arrested in an Arab nation during an attempt to kill Hamas leader Khaled Mashal. Israeli agents failed in an attempt to kill Mashal in Jordan six years ago. He has since been deported from Jordan to Syria, from where he continues to oversee terrorist attacks against Israel.
