The Supreme Court rejected a suit by a group of religious women from the Yesha community Mitzpeh Kramim, near Kokhav HaShachar, regarding the screening of a documentary film about them on Shabbat. Supreme Court President Aharon Barak ruled that although screening the film on Shabbat would in fact offend their religious sensibilities, \"the level of endurance of Israeli society as a Jewish and democratic state includes situations in which the image of a believing Jew is shown on Shabbat.\" He said that if this situation is changed, it would be the beginning of the end of radio and TV broadcasts on Shabbat, for it would be impossible to have broadcasts that don\'t include voices or pictures of religious Jews. Justice Dalia Dorner, expressing a minority opinion, said that religious Jews must not be forced to violate their religious precepts, and \"there is no room for withdrawal within freedom of religion.\"
