Prime Minister Sharon, interviewed on Channel Ten, divulged his plans for the partition wall/fence and the Shomron city of Ariel. Asked if the partition would enclose Ariel and its 16,500 inhabitants, Sharon said, "Ariel will be enclosed with a fence." Pressed to explain whether he was referring to "the" specific partition in question or to a separate fence exclusively around Ariel, Sharon repeated the sentence again. Finally, however, realizing he had no choice but to elaborate, he explained that construction of a partition would begin to the east of Ariel, thus including it on the "Israeli" side, and that afterwards, "I imagine we will have a hard struggle regarding whether it will be attached to the main partition or not."
