The Jerusalem District Court has begun pre-sentencing hearings for three Jews convicted of attempted murder. The three - Yarden Morag, Shlomi Dvir, and Ofer Gamliel (father of seven) - were convicted of conspiring to bomb an Arab girls' school. The three claimed that the bomb was never meant to go off, but the court ruled that the fact that the battery was empty was merely the result of an oversight on their part. The prosecutor compared their actions to those of Hamas, and asked for the maximum sentence of 20 years for two of the defendants.

Yosef Ben-Baruch, who was married while under police guard and in hand-and-leg-cuffs ten weeks ago, is also imprisoned in connection with this case. His trial will take place separately, as he has pleaded not guilty.

Three other Jews are also being held on "security-related" charges, namely, possession of dynamite. A cache of arms was found after one of the three began cooperating with the GSS interrogators. Maariv reported today that this happened after his daughter was born; the GSS agents held a celebration of sorts for their prisoner, including beer and other drinks - and afterwards, he told them the whereabouts of the weapons.

Noam Federman was taken to a hospital today in the midst of appealing the three-month administrative detention he began yesterday. Federman has been found innocent in the past of many charges pertaining to right-wing political activities. He began a hunger strike yesterday, saying that he is being hounded by authorities, and that there is no proof against him pertaining to any criminal acts. Federman added that he will not be broken, and that ultimately, those who imprison him will be the ones in jail.
