Two protest events are scheduled for this evening (Sunday) in Israel: one for Pollard, and one against Peres and Oslo.

A massive Jonathan Pollard solidarity rally will be held this evening at 7:30 PM at Safra Square in Jerusalem, near City Hall. Participating musicians include Yehuda Katz and the Reva Lesheva band, Lenny Solomon, Ariel Zilber, Aharon and Yonatan Raz'el, Shalhevet, The Madregot, Pirchei Efrat, Efrayim Mendelson, Umka Deliba, Dor Acharon, and Mordechai and Etan Fisher. Transportation will be provided from all over the country; see "http://www.jewsite.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1586" for a Hebrew listing of transportation arrangements.

Shimon Peres' publicly-funded 80th birthday celebrations begin today. The foundation stone for the new Peres Center for Peace building in Jaffa will be laid today, and hundreds of guests will gather this evening at the Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv to celebrate the occasion. Hundreds of protestors are also expected to attend, though they will remain outside the building. They will remind the birthday guests of Peres' responsibility for the Oslo process. No fewer than 1,200 policemen will be on hand to maintain order at the birthday celebration sites.

Several thousand people took part in an anti-government protest in Tel Aviv last night, demanding the uprooting of all Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza.
