A public campaign is underway in Israel on behalf of the Nusseibeh-Ayalon Middle East peace plan. Electronic media ads attempt to convince the public to sign their name in support of the plan, and that in the end, "the government will not be able to ignore us." The plan, formulated by Sari Nusseibeh of the Palestinian Authority and former GSS head Ami Ayalon, involves the Arabs' ceding of their 'right of return' in exchange for all of Judea, Samaria and Gaza and the dismantling of all the Jewish communities there. Arutz-7's Yosef Zalmanson notes that Nusseibeh recently told the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations that Yasser Arafat is "committed to peace."
