Arutz-7's Haggai Seri accompanied a group of mostly new immigrants from the former Soviet Union - today they are residents of the upper Galilee city of Hatzor - on a tour of the southern Shomron. The group, organized by the Tekumah party, visited Eli, where they met with Mayor Lior Shtul, as well as Shilo, Adei Ad, Rechelim and other outposts in the area. They learned such things as what a caravan is, how a new community is built, how long it takes, and of course the Biblical and modern history of the area.
"They were definitely very impressed and curious about what they saw here," Seri reported. One of the visitors said, "It's really very different than the way it looks on TV. Now I see that the Prime Minister really should help these people..." Asked if he would want to live in the Shomron, one long-time Hatzor resident said, "I already have a home, and I can't divide myself in two. But if someone has the wherewithal to buy a home, then I would recommend very warmly that he do so here." They were fascinated by the mountains and the scenery, Seri noted, "and one of them said, 'Why do people have to go to France or Switzerland? We have all the beautiful scenic views right here in Israel.'"
