Some 300 people gathered in Jerusalem last night to celebrate the release of nine "Jewish underground" suspects from the Shabak detention facilities. One of the freed detainees, Yisachar Peretz, described aloud the suffering - physical and emotional - he sustained during his two weeks of interrogation and incarceration. Other speakers called for the dismantling of the Jewish Section in the Shabak. The defense lawyers involved in the case - Naftali Wurtzberger, Baruch Ben-Yosef, and Ariel Atari - raised questions against the courts that "time after time" granted Shabak requests to extend the suspects' custody, despite the lack of evidence against them.
