Praying For Rav Elyashiv
Tens of thousands of Jews in Israel and all over the world have been praying for the health of Rabbi Yosef Shalom [ben Chaya Musha] Elyashiv, after he was rushed to a respiratory intensive care unit in Shaare Zedek Medical Center on Friday night. He was later taken to Ein Karem Hadassah Hospital.
Rabbi Elyashiv, aged 93, is considered the leading Torah scholar and authority and the successor to Rabbi Menachem Shach, who died in November 2001. Thousands of people gathered at the Western Wall to pray for his health last night.
It was reported that Rabbi Elyashiv's condition had improved, and that he was able to recite Sabbath prayers yesterday with family members. He is now listed in serious but stable condition.
