The opening of the Games a month from now had been in doubt after several delegations of Jewish athletes from around the world said they would not come, but the American Maccabiah delegation\'s decision yesterday to show up changed the picture. Officials now expect 2,000 or more athletes to show up for the games; 4,000 had originally been expected.
