Another man has been arrested in the ongoing investigation into what has been called the "second Jewish underground." Gilad Tor, brother of one of the other suspects, is the latest arrestee - but Kach activist Noam Federman says that the arrest is meaningless. "The Shabak (General Security Service) has to give the impression that there is progress in the investigation," he said, "because the judge warned earlier this week that he would not extend the custody of the suspects if he did not see some concrete evidence against them."
Relatives of the suspects say that the GSS is "cruelly harassing" them. Each of the suspects was brought to the courtroom for their remand hearing with an immodestly-dressed woman closely escorting him. One of the women said she was a member of the interrogation staff. "Their appearance and their close contact with the suspects caused shock and distress among the families," the relatives said in a statement, "because of the deliberate and unethical manner in which the GSS is trying to break their spirit, humiliate them, and offend them as religious Jews."
In addition, the family of David Libman, one of the arrestees suspected of "security-related crimes," said that he has actually been imprisoned for the past two weeks in the Ashkelon prison in which murderous terrorists are held - including the very murderers of David's brother Shlomo. Shlomo Libman and Har'el Bin-Nun were killed in a well-planned ambush in August 1998 while they were patrolling around Yitzhar. The families seek the public's help in protesting these offenses to their sensibilities.
