Likud MK Gilad Erdan (Likud), a resident of Ashkelon, said that he was not surprised by the fact that Palestinians fired a Kassam rocket in the direction of his city yesterday. He told Arutz-7 today, "We have long heard warnings that this hudna period was designed to allow the terrorists to rearm, and this is what they did."

The rocket fell less than two miles short of the major power station in Ashkelon, which supplies 25% of the country's electricity. Erdan said that he supports the position of Transportation Minister Avigdor Lieberman (National Union) of direct strikes against the terrorist leaders, such as Yasser Arafat: "I am surprised at Bush and Sharon who understand that terrorist regimes around the world must be replaced, while in our situation they take a totally different view."
