The Executive Director of the Likud-Herut movement in Great Britain, Dr. Colin L. Leci, has resigned his post, explaining that he was advised that \"it is not acceptable to the movement\'s executive to voice criticism of the current government of the State of Israel led by Likud Chairman Ariel Sharon.\" Ceci explained, \"It is stated in the Torah that one should not stand idly by when the blood of one\'s brother is being shed. By suppressing criticism of the actions of the current Israeli government, Likud Herut GB is not adhering to this principle.\" He specified the points on which he felt Sharon should be criticized:

* His statement that \"restraint is part of our strength.\"

* The acceptance of the Mitchell Commission recommendations.

* The declaration of a freeze on settlement activity.

* Permitting the burial of Feisal Husseini on the Temple Mount.

* The failure to secure the release of Jonathan Pollard from incarceration in the USA.

Defenders of Sharon say that his restraint has enabled Israel to maintain strong ties with the U.S., and not exacerbate ties with Europe, in anticipation of a coming clash; settlement construction has not been officially frozen; and he has admitted that Husseini\'s burial there was a mistake.
