The five-MK Center Party decided today not to join the national-unity government. Its two former leaders - MKs Mordechai and Lipkin-Shachak - have resigned from the Knesset, and its remaining members all lean towards the right of the political spectrum. Leader Dan Meridor and Nechama Ronen were against joining, while MKs Roni Milo and David Magen were in favor. The party had been offered two ministerial posts, but prefers to wait for a more generous offer. In the meantime, the Center party will support the government from without.
