The latest population statistics of Yesha (Judea, Samaria and Gaza), as compiled by Nadav Shragai of Haaretz, show that the total population in the 146 Yesha communities increased by 12,500 over the past 12 months, and now totals over 231,000.

Towns "deep" in the Shomron and south of Hevron - referred to in Haaretz as "ideological settlements" - registered the largest growth. More than half the towns registered a growth larger than the national average, and 30 others also grew. Yitzhar grew by 15%, Revavah shot up by 11%, Shavei Shomron - 9%, and Elon Moreh - 4%. In Judea, Otniel increased by 10%, Susia - 12%, and Karmei Tzur, which suffered three Oslo terrorist casualties, increased at a higher rate than any other Gush Etzion town. The population of Negohot, in southern Judea, increased by a whopping 47%. In Binyamin, Talmon grew by 11%, and Adam by 20%, but the Jordan Valley, northern Shomron, and the Dead Sea area dropped in population.
